Tasting Notes

Intense ruby red color with slight violet reflections.

On the nose an expressive bouquet. You’ll find concentrated red fruits (sour cherry, pomegranate), drying dark cherries, and savory herbal notes like tobacco or sage, finished with a hint of vanilla.

On the palate medium to full-bodied with a "juicy" energy. It’s known for a smooth, silky texture and a characteristic freshness (thanks to the limestone soils) that prevents the wine from feeling heavy. Persistent and elegant, with well-integrated tannins and a spicy, mineral undertone.

Serving: Best served at 60°F–64°F (16°C–18°C). Serve slightly cooler than room temperature to keep the bright red fruit, dark cherry, and mineral freshness balanced without emphasizing the alcohol. Decanting: 30 to 45 minutes before serving. While drinkable upon opening, a brief decant helps soften the firm tannins and unmasks its elegant structural balance.

Food Pairing

This wine is versatile but shines with savory, earthy, or Mediterranean flavors. It's pairing well with meat, juicy burgers, lamb, or classic meatloaf. Vegetarian dishes such as, baked eggplant parmigiana, lentil stews with mushrooms, or pasta with sun-dried tomatoes. Aged cheeses.

Gulfi Nerojbleo Nero d’Avola 2021 is a certified organic Sicilian red that favors elegance over jammy fruit. It is 100% Nero d’Avola from non-irrigated, head-trained bush vines in the Hyblean Mountains of Chiaramonte Gulfi, about 450 meters up in limestone-clay soils. Those soils keep the wine fresh despite the warm Mediterranean sun. It ages 12 months in French oak, then rests at least another year in bottle. The result is silky and juicy, with sour cherry, pomegranate, dark cherry, sage and tobacco, a hint of vanilla, and a spicy, mineral finish.

Why buy it: This is a wine from certified organic vineyards. It has real depth and structure but stays fresh and balanced, so it works for anyone who finds big Sicilian reds too heavy. Free shipping on 6+ bottles makes it a good wine to buy by the case.

When to open it: Open it for a grilled dinner with friends, a Sunday meal, or a relaxed night in. It pairs well with juicy burgers, lamb, meatloaf, baked eggplant parmigiana, lentil and mushroom stew, pasta with sun-dried tomatoes, or matured cheeses. It is ready to drink now and can be cellared until 2030.
