Tasting Notes

Bright ruby red with a subtle garnet fade at the rim, showcasing the classic, elegant transparency typical of youthful Nebbiolo.

On the nose highly perfumed and beautifully expressive. It leads with bright red forest fruit, wild raspberry, sour black cherry, and pomegranate, layered with lifted floral notes of crushed violets and rose petals. As it breathes, savory and complex undertones of dried mountain herbs, petrichor, and a subtle woodsy, clay like earthiness emerge.

On the palate elegant, balanced, and medium-to-full-bodied, perfectly reflecting the more graceful, aromatic side of the La Morra terroir. It features a core of juicy red fruit framed by bright, mouthwatering acidity and firm, fine-grained, silky tannins. There is excellent depth here, with underlying mineral and savory tones that keep the fruit in check. Long, fresh, and persistent. The vibrant fruit gradually tapers off, leaving a lingering, subtly mineral driven trail of dried herbs, tea leaf, and a touch of earth.

Food pairing: Classic Piedmontese match, Truffle or Mushroom Risotto or Tajarin. The earthy, woodsy, and petrichor notes in the wine harmonize beautifully with the savory depth of truffles or wild mushrooms, while the wine's acidity cuts through the butter and parmesan.

Brasato al Barolo (Braised Beef) or Smoked Brisket for a more relaxed but equally spectacular pairing,

Aged, Hard Cheeses, the salt and protein in hard, aged cheeses mellow the wine's tannins and highlight its floral and fruit aromas. Avoid soft, creamy cheeses (like Brie), which can make Nebbiolo taste metallic.

The 2020 Alberto Burzi Barolo Classico is a vibrant Barolo from La Morra that marries traditional soul with modern purity. Crafted by the rising-star brother-and-sister duo Alberto and Caterina Burzi in La Morra, from organic practice farmed vines coming from various parcels of 30 and 70 years old with exposure between East and South-East.

Burdened by neither heavy oak nor aggressive tannins, the 2020 vintage bursts with high-toned red cherries, crushed rose petals, and wild herbs. Delicate, transparent, and silky on the palate, it is a beautifully complete Nebbiolo that offers immediate charm without sacrificing its long-term aging potential.
